Masterpost

Because masterposts look cool and they give me the impression that I've accomplished something. Most everything is cross-posted on FF.net, and on S&C and Sebklaine.net for the Klaine and Kurtbastian stories, respectively, for those who prefer those formats...

Kurt/Sebastian

Dancing in moonlight (second installment in the Dream!verse)
Kurt knew dating Sebastian wouldn't be easy. But as they learn to navigate their relationship, Kurt finds that Sebastian being HIV positive might not be his biggest problem. Because Sebastian's past keeps sneaking up on them, until, during a visit to Paris, it quite literally smacks them in the face.

Dream about us (first installment in the Dream!verse)
Kurt's slowly building up his career as a designer when he meets Sebastian, a model whose snark is exceeded only by his stubbornness to get Kurt to go out with him. But before the couple can take things one step further, Sebastian needs to come clean to Kurt about one thing: he's HIV positive.

Kurt/Blaine

The danger inside of me (second installment in the Danger!verse)
After Kurt has been declared healthy, he and Blaine can finally try to move on with their lives. But learning to trust again is easier said than done when your best friend of three years has kept his HIV positive status a secret from you. It's even harder when that secret has put your health at risk.

  • The danger inside of you (first installment in the Danger!verse)
When, in his freshman year in college, Kurt manages to convince Blaine to give up their little game of When Harry met Sally, it seems their life together can finally start. But a drunk night out leads to a rush to the hospital, and a confession Blaine should have made much, much earlier.

  • Brothers (FF.net & S&C only)
When Burt doesn't wake up from coma after his heart attack, Child Welfare Agency decides to place Kurt in a foster family. Kurt is not amused, but fortunately, he is not alone. His new foster brother seems to come with his own set of problems, though.

Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Kurt/Sebastian
Warnings: polyamory, promiscuity, Sebastian/OC, Blaine/OC, mentions of HIV and suffering thereof, mentions of recreational use of weed, a threesome (talked about and happening, though it's not written out), and, I suppose, cheating. If you consider accidentally kissing someone who's not your partner cheating, that is. If you want more information on any of these warnings, please, don't be afraid to ask me.
Word Count: 68,000

Story notes: Sebastian is four years younger than Kurt, and as such never met him nor Blaine in high school. Even though he is HIV positive, he is asymptomatic, and therefore is not suffering from the illness in any way. Most importantly though, read the warnings and make sure you are okay with them, especially the polyamory. A large part of this story features Sebastian in a loving (romantic and sexual) relationship with an original male character, so if your are unwilling or unable to support that, this is probably not the right story for you.
I have incorporated quite a bit of French in this work, but you should not have trouble understanding if you do not speak the language. Relevant bits are always translated or explained - if they're not they are not strictly necessary to the plot.
Summary: This story was written for the Kurtbastian Big Bang of 2012/2013, and is a type of sequel for a story I wrote earlier called Dream About Us (20k), which in turn resulted from this GKM prompt. While it may be easier to understand certain references, it is definitely not required reading to enjoy this story.
I've been working on this story for quite a while now, and between the polyamory and a trans* OC I haven't exactly made it easy on myself. I have tried to do my research to treat each of these subjects with the respect they deserve, but if anything I've written is wrong or offensive, don't hesitate to call me out on it and I'll try my best to fix it.
I would like to thank Unwritten25 for organizing this Big Bang in the first place, and for graciously granting me permission to post on a later date. Many thanks also to my beta Sarah, who told me to fucking write the story already, to Pepper and Lari for last minute emergency beta services, and to Evelina for kindly giving me her AO3 invite. Last but not least, though, I want to give an enormous, gigantic hug to Pao, my bucko, who not only saved me from being artist-less but who also made the most amazing cover art for this story - you should go smother her with my regards. Now.

Summary: (sequel to The Danger Inside of You which doesn't need to be read to follow this story's arc) For over three years, Blaine has kept his HIV positive status from Kurt. After Kurt finds out in the worst possible way, he and Blaine have to try to find a new balance in their lives and, more importantly, in their relationship.
Author’s Note: For those who read this after TDIOY, I'm sure you know the drill about angst by now :). For the others: Although Blaine is HIV positive, this does not mean he's sick, or dying, or suffering in any way - the story is first and foremost about two people trying to rebuild their relationship after the weight of a too-big secret has destroyed it. The prologue is a first person POV of Nick Warbler, but the rest of the story will be alternating between Kurt and Blaine's third person POV.
To the best of my knowledge, any and all medical information is accurate. I am not affiliated with any of the companies producing the drugs mentioned in the story. All characters and places in this story which are part of Glee belong to their respective owners. Since I don't make money with this story, I call upon Fair Use to bring them into my own little verse.
Last, but not least, a shout out to my beta Sarah, who may possibly be the best beta in the universe, and to the wonderful loverstar who made the beautiful cover art for this story. Thank you so so much.

Summary: (sequel to The Danger Inside of You which doesn't need to be read to follow this story's arc) After Kurt has been declared healthy, he and Blaine can finally try to move on with their lives. But learning to trust again is easier said than done when your best friend of three years has kept his HIV positive status a secret from you. It's even harder when that secret has put your health at risk.
Author’s Note: TRIGGER WARNING: this chapter plays in a hospital. Seeing the nature of the story and the past chapters I'm sure you can all figure out what this means. Nothing graphic, nothing (too) serious - I trust you know your own limits. If you don't feel up to reading, I can give you a short summary instead if you want; just message me.
That being said... I know I'm one day late - apologies include the fact that the draft I wrote on Thursday wasn't autosaved and I lost it (third time, yes, I know, I'm clumsy like that) and I wasn't home yesterday to rewrite it, but I suppose neither of that really matters... and so it's not done before the hiatus was over, because for some reason I thought we only got the new episode next week... goes to show how on top of things I am lately ;).
It's a really short chapter, and the one I'm least sure about in terms of medical accuracy - I couldn't get a hold of a doctor to check things so I had to trust Google for information and my brain to draw the right conclusions, so if any of you medical professionals see irregularities, please tell me so I can change it but please don't tell me because I'll die of shame... But I debated quite a while on the best way to do this and while I'm not completely satisfied I hope you guys like it. I didn't want to milk the angst out for too long, because that's not the point of this storyline, so I kept it short and concise... I hope it worked.
Then - two PSAs today: firstly, Endless-street has gracefully offered to take on the ginormous task of translating this fic into French, and is doing an awesome job on it, so if you know any French speakers who use a poor understanding of English as a reason to not read this fic, you can now call them out on it and send them here! ;)
Secondly, and this has to do with Gary's little threat to the nurse, there is indeed a 2010 presidential mandate that extends hospital visitation rights to same-sex partners. The mandate affects all hospitals who receive MediCare or MedicAid, which is the large majority of USA hospitals. It's not perfect, I've found a few cases of the past few years where same-sex partners were still asked for Health Care Proxies or other documents (and even then sometimes it wasn't enough), but it *should* now be so that the patient gets to decide who has visitation rights and who doesn't - something which is, btw, also beneficial for straight couples who aren't married or single people/widow(er)s who don't have a partner or children.
I'll see you on Tuesday: only two chapters and an epilogue left - the end is nearing!

Author’s Note: Second time in a row I managed to lose my final edit, so forgive me for a cranky A/N...
I originally wasn't going to post because the next one isn't quite finished yet, but then I realized I will be internet-less this weekend and won't be able to post on Friday, so I figured I could just as well... so here it is! A lot of people had asked about when there would be further resolution with Burt, I hope this meets the expectations and you like this chapter better than the last one... either way I'll see you guys most likely next Tuesday!

Author’s Note: Soooo... hi? And please don't kill me after you've finished this? I mean, it was a long chapter at least, and a lot of things happening? As usual, the numbers and figures are based on real statistics I got from the US gov website, and thus, unfortunately, the problems stated by Blaine are actual, real-life issues. There are, of course, many different ways to interpret statistics, but the increased risk for young people of color, especially gay and bisexual men, is not a myth.
I've had a bit of a bumpy road on a health level myself lately (me and my appendix had a... difference of opinion, let's say. but, after nearly two weeks of fighting we've decided to part roads and each go our own way, and I really feel it's for the best ;).) which has both taken a lot of time and provided me with some extra spare time, and if I can keep the writing up I hope to be able to get back to a more regular posting schedule, i.e. once or twice a week. With only 4 chapters and an epilogue to go, that means that with a bit of luck I just might finish this before Glee starts up again! So - next chapter up next Friday at the latest, possibly Tuesday if I make good progress with the rest... thank you all so much for sticking with me, and let me know what you thought!

Author’s Note: *peeks around the corner* Hi?
So... I eh... I really owe all of you an apology. I'm not proud having left you all hanging with no news about the updates or the schedule, and I'm really sorry - this goes especially to those who were kind enough to find me on Tumblr and ask about the update, and who I made promises I turned out not to be able to keep. Those who follow me there already got a more elaborate explanation of the how and the why, but for keeping-this-note-short purposes let's just say I got rl-induced writer's block.
I'm thinking if there was anything I needed to say about the chapter itself... I've always loved the idea of Finn in the army for some reason, although I don't see him on the front line, I don't think he has the right character for that. But he does have a caring, protective streak, and so I always picture him in the medical department. Idk. I've been going back and forth a lot about who Finn would grow into as a 20-year old, and I hope it came out right... Oh, and I don't actually know whether HIV/AIDS is in the military first aid curriculum, or whether such a thing exists in the first place. But the function of health care specialist DOES require an ST score of at least 101 on the ASVAB. Also, the US army website is an incomprehensible maze.
(HOW do my A/Ns always come out so long? Just... HOW?)
Anyway... I don't know when I'll be able to crunch out the next chapter, and I'm torn between posting as I write, or finishing the story first and then posting all of it regularly as I did in the beginning, so tell me which you'd prefer, all right? Also, cliff hanger for the next chapter or not? ;)
Either way, the story is not, nor will it be, abandoned, and I'll definitely keep you all posted through Tumblr about what's going on, but right now I'm not gonna make any promises, because I'd rather not disappoint any more people.
Hope you like the chapter, and until we meet again!

Author’s Note: I am so so sorry I'm this late in posting today - I honestly forgot :s (I moved countries yesterday, and am writing this between piles of boxes and half-unpacked suitcases, if that's an excuse). Little side note - I added the bit about the PrEP just today, so my apologies if it feels a bit out of place; but the FDA approved Truvada for this purpose just a month ago, and I really did want to add it in. I'll provide a link to the press release on my Tumblr in a couple of days when I've settled in a bit more...
But yay for angst! It gives one so much to look forward to, don't you think? ;) Thanks to everyone who commented and subscribed lately and see you next week!

Anyway - more fluffiness practice! Starting next week things will be gradually be getting a little more serious again, so savor it :).
Quick status update then: from the look of things you'll be getting seven more chapters and an epilogue - writing's going fairly smoothly now, and as soon as I've wrapped up the whole thing (give me a week or 2, 3?) I'll go back to twice weekly postings, promise :).
Thank you all for reading, and see you next week!

Author’s Note: I know many of you were hoping/looking forward to a confrontation between Kurt and Mercedes - and here it is! Melanie, this is for you ;). Not sure if this is what you were expecting, but I really do like Mercedes, and Kurt's never been the type to hold grudges for too long... The song is 'The best is yet to come' by Novastar. Because I suck at picking songs and I like to promote local artists ;).
Also - I apparently forgot to say this in my A/N last week, but I'm slowing down to 1 update a week; while I had a couple of chapters lined up before now I'm more posting as I write, which means I need a little more time in between updates. All the same, the aim is to have this wrapped up by the time Glee starts up again so you'll have something to ease the pain ;). -Lis xx
